The Pack 44 Pinewood Derby was held on
Friday night, March 10, 2006 at the Clear Lake Elementary School Gym.
After a pre-race pasta dinner in the cafeteria, the race fans
were invited to view the pinewood race car entries in the pits.
Racing began shortly after 7:00 PM and ran until about 9:00 PM with the
field consisting of 80+ cars total in the Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos,
Sibling, and Parents divisions. The race heats were close and
exciting. Between the race heats, prizes donated by local
area contributors were raffled off to the kids. Many award certificates were
also given out in numerous design categories.
When the race heats ended, the winners
in the Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos and Siblings divisions were announced.
Trophies and Pack 44 Pinewood Derby T-Shirts were awarded to the top 3
positions in each division. The top 5 cars in each division
qualified to be sponsored by Pack 44 in the Pontiac-Manito District Pinewood
Derby Race at the Waterford Mott High School on Saturday,
April 22, 2006.
We would like to give our thanks to the
Pinewood Derby Race committee, the Pit Crew, and all of those who helped
set up, run, and clean up after the derby. The Pinewood Derby Race
committee was chaired by Steve Floyd. A special thanks goes out to
Jim Carlisle
for holding the pre-race Pinewood Derby Workshops and the
Weigh-In at his house. Race night and award
photos were taken by Craig Wright. Again, thanks
to all who worked so hard to make this a super Pinewood Derby for all.
