This trip is open to Cub Scouts and family members.  It is limited to the first 100 people that sign up.

What is furnished?

The exhibits:

  • They have a  large number of hands on, Interactive science exhibits for learners of all ages to enjoy while exploring.

  • A wood floor for your sleeping bags. 

  • Late evening snack and breakfast. 

  • Time to shop for cool things in their Science Gift Store.

The workshops:

  • Slime: Is it a liquid or a solid? Campers will learn about the concepts of chemical and physical change, the three states of matter, and the ways in which molecules behave differently in a solid, liquid, or as a gas. Each camper will then create a chemical reaction by mixing a polymer with food coloring and a saturated solution of Borax and water. The slime you make is yours to keep.

  • Electricity: What Is static electricity and how do we produce it? How can tiny particles illuminate a light bulb or make a balloon stick to things? Students will experiment with different uses of static electricity and explore conductors, insulators, circuits, currents and more using our Van de Graff generator. This could be a shocking and hair-raising experience!

  • Water Works: Will it float ? How would you get water from here to there ? What is pressure ? Explore a water wonderland and learn more about our most precious resource. 

 

What to bring:

  • At least one adult for each ten students (willing to help, learn and play with the students).

  • Sleeping bag (adults may want an air or foam mattress), minimum toiletries, toothbrush & toothpaste, washcloth and small towel, all packed in a large bag.

  • Nametag for each student & his/her bag.

  • A great attitude.

  • Chaperones please bring a flashlight.

 

Leave at home:

  • Pajamas.

  • hair dryers.

  • curling irons.

  • snacks.

  • beverages.

  • candy.

  • Gameboys, etc.

  • radios.

  • etc.

 

What to wear:

Wear sweats or jeans and sweatshirt (in warm weather shorts and tee shirt). You will sleep In your clothes - do not bring pajamas.

 

Tentative schedule:

Evening:

6:30 Checkin, orientation,and exploration time, followed by three Adventure Workshops and snack.

10:15   Exhibit floor closes. Prepare for sleep.

10:30   Disney video (or bring one of your choice),

time to wind down in sleeping bags.

11:45  Sleep.

 

Morning:

7:00   Wake up and pack up.

7:30   Breakfast, exhibit exploration and shopping in gift store.

8:50   Wrap up and depart.
